Leading The Way
All training is conducted by Leading the Way. Leading The Way is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and has over 25 years experience as Behavior Consultants. The methods are based on principles learned and developed through over 11,000 hours of hands-on experience during intensive internships with leading experts such as Ian Dunbar, Sue Sternberg,Virginia Broctman & Sherri Lippman, Pam Dennison, Leslie Nelson and Jean Donaldson. The goal is to share the extensive education and experience of Leading The Way with dog owners to enhance the relationships between them and their beloved dogs.

Classes
Our current roster of classes includes:
Doggie Manners 101 How are your dog's manners? This 6-week class covers basic commands including sit and come when called. Skills covered include polite greetings, no begging, and no jumping. This class is full of helpful information and participating in it will help you build a better relationship with your dog.
Doggie Manners 102 Now that your dog has some manners.... what's the next step? Manners 102 is designed to take your dog's skills to the next level! This 6-week class covers advanced commands including hand signals for sit, come when called, and stay. Skills covered include going to "place", settle, return to owner’s side, preparation for off leash, and other advanced skills and commands. Prerequisite: Doggie Manners 101 or permission from the class instructor.
Off Leash Extravaganza This class is ideal for the handler and dog that want to live their lives free of leashes. We cover off leash walking; come when called and 15-foot stay in both a down and a sit position - just to name a few. This class meets for 10 weeks (First class NO DOGS, please).
Trick Class Have some fun with your dog! This 4-week class will is filled with fun and games. A variety of tricks will be covered. Dogs do not need to have any training experience, however all dogs must be good with other dogs. Tricks including roll over, play dead and put your toys away are among the possibilities. Join this exciting, fun-filled class you and your dog will love it! Separate fee for supplies.
Small Dog Manners This specialty class is for toy breeds and small breed dogs less than 20lbs at maturity. This manners class includes the unique situations that owner of small dogs face. This six week class is limited to 10 dogs.
On the Road Again In this 4 week class , the instructor and students travel to nearby locations to practice manners and develop better social skills in real-life settings. Location include Mt. Holyoke college area, Look Park, and other locations.
