Daycare and Sleepovers
We make good dogs behave great!
Dogs are pack animals and, therefore, socialization is essential for their proper development. Dog daycare reinforces appropriate interactions with humans and other dogs in a structured setting. This type of socialization is helpful in dealing with many behavioral issues such as shyness, over-exuberance, or poor manners. Daycare benefits owners by offering a solution to help exercise dogs, strengthen commands in an off leash setting and curb destructive behaviors due to boredom.
All daycare dogs are grouped according to their size and temperament. For safety reasons, small dogs are never in the same group as large dogs. Puppies are provided with safe, suitable playmates so as to ensure they develop appropriate dog-dog social skills. We cater to the emotional and physical needs of each and every dog. We specialize in working with dogs that may not fit in other daycares. Our experienced training staff offers unique opportunities including Puppy Groups, Private Socialization groups, Day School and more. We are very willing to work with owners to develop the right plan for their dog.
Daycare at The Good Dog Spot is a fun, structured environment where your dog will thrive. Stop in to see what we are all about!

Guidelines
Age: All dogs must be at least 8 weeks in age. Puppies will be placed into a Puppy Group.
Sex: All dogs must be spayed or neutered no later than 9 months of age.
Vaccinations: All dogs must be current on rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations. Proof must be submitted with application.
Health: All dogs must be in good health. Dogs that have sensitive hips, shoulders, joints, or other chronic pain may not be eligible for daycare. Upon admittance, dogs that have diarrhea and/or vomiting must be seen by their veterinarian and cleared to return to daycare.
Behavior: All dogs must be non-aggressive towards people and dogs. Aggressive dogs will not be accepted into daycare. Dogs with poor, but non-aggressive, play styles or other issues may be accepted into one of our specialized plans. Owners must agree to the terms of the plan.
Collars and Equipment: No dog may be brought to daycare on a Flexi or retractable lead. This is for the safety of staff and your dog. All collars are removed for play. We advise against using a choke collar with your dog.
Grooming & Cleanliness: If a dog’s nails are long enough that they may cause injury to staff or other dogs, they will be trimmed at the owner’s expense. Dogs may get dirty during play; we will do our best to brush and dry them before pickup time. However, if your dog is excessively dirty and needs a bath, the owner will be responsible for the cost.
Breed: All breeds are accepted, however bully breeds must follow the Bully Breed Policy.

Specialized Programs
Private Socialization: Some dogs, many of them rescues, have not been socialized properly to other dogs. They may display improper greeting behavior, excessive shyness, or just don’t know how to play! For these dogs who are not ready for our regular daycare playgroups, we offer a “private socialization” group. When a dog is enrolled in private socialization, they receive one on one staff attention and a program specifically tailored to them. The dog will be worked with both alone and in a small group of carefully selected dogs. This program is suitable for a dog that shows no aggression but just isn’t quite ready to go into the main daycare groups. An additional fee applies and will be discussed at the evaluation. Only one private socialization dog is allowed per day as they require their own group and one-on-one staff supervision.
Puppy Group: Puppies require a different type of playgroup than adult dogs. Some daycares put young puppies directly into their small dog or large dog playgroups. At The Good Dog Spot, we believe that puppies need to be in a special type of group that includes other puppies and experienced “puppy savvy” older dogs. Our staff are experienced with puppies and their developmental stages. Your puppy will only advance to the adult dog groups when physically and emotionally ready. This ensures that your puppy has positive experiences with other dogs at a young age and can then mature into a well-adjusted adult dog.
Day School: Do you have a specific training issue with your dog? Are you short on time or do you have a schedule that doesn’t allow you to attend regular training classes? We offer a Day School program for owners who are looking for training help with their dog. The program includes training throughout the day while your dog is here for daycare. Your dog will be worked with both in and out of the group. At the end of the day, you will receive a homework handout and a brief lesson outlining your dog’s progress and the exercises you should be working on at home. Day School can be a short or long term program and is based upon the needs of the owner. Some dogs may be admitted to daycare with the restriction that they must participate in the Day School program to work on problem behaviors.
What sets The Good Dog Spot apart from other daycares?
Our staff are highly trained in dog behavior, body language, and dog training. They regularly attend seminars and education events to further their knowledge.
We use positive training methods to obtain happy, obedient dogs. Your dog will love learning this way.
Safety is a top concern. Big dogs are kept completely separate from small dogs. All collars are removed for play to avoid strangulation risks. Toys are not allowed in most playgroups to avoid guarding and aggression issues.
Our facility is safe and clean with extra precautions to minimize health risks to your dog.
Staff stay in the playrooms with the dogs at all times. Your dog will not be left unsupervised.
Our webcams allow you to see your dog play from the comfort of your home or office for only $10 per month for unlimited use. They also allow our staff to review and evaluate playgroup dynamics and make positive changes.
We provide structured playgroups that incorporate training with play. All daycare dogs have brief training sessions as a group throughout the day. Good manners are enforced.
We offer specialized playgroups and custom tailored programs for dogs that may not be suitable for more traditional daycares.
We know dogs! We know their wants, needs, and body language. Your dog will be given appropriate rest times for his health and well being. We ALWAYS listen to what your dog is telling us!
