Our Team

Meet the amazing individuals who make

The Good Dog Spot great!

Elizabeth Staples

Elizabeth@gooddogspot.net
Job Title: Managing Director
About Elizabeth: Owning The Good Dog Spot is quite literally Elizabeth’s dream come true. In her early twenties, she wrote a business plan to open a pet care facility with a mission to provide peace of mind to pet parents in the Pioneer Valley. She convinced a local bank to give her a loan and opened this facility in her late twenties (2007 to be exact). The business has grown from one employee to twelve, from zero to over two thousand clients, from two daycare dogs per day to over forty per day, from same day grooming appointments to booking up to two weeks in advance. Due to their growing business, TGDS has relocated, and recently completed another expansion and doubled their play space to ten thousand square feet. “Life is good. Our core values: passion, integrity, and consistency are present in all aspects of the work we do.  I’ve loved every minute of it!”

Elizabeth is currently owned by three dogs – Raven, a ten year-old Dachshund-Chihuahua mix; Tubby, a six year-old Dachshund-Chihuahua mix (who is also Raven’s son!); and Buster, a four year-old Chihuahua mix (who was homeless and ended up at TGDS).  Her heart will forever belong to Haley, an American Staffordshire Terrier, who passed in 2014. Elizabeth and her husband Cory also have two salt-water fish tanks with a variety of fish including a Lion Fish, a Porcupine Puffer and basically the whole cast of Finding Nemo. Outside of TGDS she enjoys exercising (especially with Kettlebells) and trying new recipes to cook.  Elizabeth also loves spending time with her husband Cory, their daughters Grace and Haley (named as a tribute to her former pup), and of course…their dogs.

Cory Staples

Cory@gooddogspot.net
Job Title: Director of Operations
About Cory: First and foremost, Cory loves being a dad to their baby girls Grace and Haley.  He is also a huge sports fan!  He follows all New England teams, but especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He also currently plays softball and kickball.  He loves camping and spending time with his family and dogs. If you read Elizabeth’s profile, you know they have a house-full of pets!  His favorite part of the job at TGDS is learning all of the different aspects of the business: daycare, overnights, and grooming. There’s never a dull moment!

Thank you to Rachel Chaput Photography for the amazing family photo! Rachel Chaput Photography

About: Thomas is a student at the University of Massachusetts and when he isn’t attending classes he works at another daycare with four years of experience taking care of animals. He has a black lab named Sancho whom he loves very much. His favorite part of working at The Good Dog Spot is getting to see the dogs every day, he says, “they make even the crazy work days seem pretty good.” When he isn’t working, he spends his free time studying, doing homework, and catching up with friends when he can.

If you were a dog, what breed would you be and why? If I was a dog breed I believe I would be a herding breed. I always like to be doing something and when I get bored I can get destructive and annoying.
